Abstract: The regulation of professional activity in contemporary society is complex in nature, involving a combination of numerous incentives that determine individuals’ willingness to engage in particular professional activities and their motivation to perform their work conscientiously and competently. It has long been established that employees’ attitudes toward their profession in general and toward their specific professional responsibilities directly influence the effectiveness and conscientiousness of their work. This explains researchers’ interest in the state and characteristics of professional consciousness. This article addresses the transformational processes affecting the professional consciousness of members of various occupational groups in the context of intensive sociocultural and institutional transformations. It examines the role of external factors and changes in the professional environment in shaping the characteristics of professional consciousness. Particular attention is given to the criteria for assessing changes in professional consciousness under the influence of external and internal factors.
Keywords: society, professional activity, professional consciousness, social self-determination, values and norms of behavior, professional identity.
